From Tuscan to Timeless: A Whole-Home Transformation

When this 2009 Tuscan-style home was purchased, it was full of the design signatures of its era—heavy travertine floors, ornate ironwork, dark cabinetry, and warm gold-and-red tones. While beautiful in its time, the homeowners dreamed of something brighter, cleaner, and more architecturally modern. I worked with Scott and Mark at Big Haus Builders to create full-scale remodel and brought it into a completely new design era.
A New First Impression: Steel & Glass Entry + White Oak Floors

The transformation begins the moment you step inside. The original dark, arched wooden door was replaced with a monumental steel-and-glass entry, instantly flooding the foyer with natural light and setting a crisp, contemporary tone.
Underfoot, the once-brown tile flooring was removed in favor of wide-plank white oak floors that continue seamlessly throughout the home. This change alone lifted years off the house—adding warmth, softness, and that effortlessly modern California-meets-Texas feel.
A deep-blue entry rug and abstract artwork bring in color without overpowering the serene new palette.
Luxury Modern Kitchen Remodel With Quartzite Waterfall Island

The kitchen is now the heart of this modern home. Key upgrades include:
- Skinny shaker cabinets in a soft, warm white
- A dark-stained island base for dimensional contrast
- Quartzite countertops with a dramatic veining pattern
- A stunning waterfall edge island that feels sculptural and elevated
- Gold and acrylic pendant lights that add modern sparkle without heaviness
By pairing natural stone with clean cabinetry and metallic accents, the kitchen achieves a balanced look that feels both timeless and current.
Built-In Wine Cellar With Glass Enclosure

One of the standout design features from this remodel is the custom wine cellar, positioned beside the living room fireplace where the old TV niche used to be. Enclosed in glass with warm LED lighting, the wine cellar serves not only as storage but as a major architectural feature. We worked with Andrew at https://bijoucellars.com/ to create this temperature-controlled work of art that highlights my client’s vintage wines.
The mix of wood shelving, brass details, and glass creates a luxurious, high-end feel—perfect for entertaining or simply enjoying a beautiful display.
Modern Linear Fireplace With Limestone Surround
The dated stone fireplace was replaced with a sleek linear fireplace framed by a custom limestone surround. The geometric paneling adds subtle texture and visual interest while maintaining clean, modern lines.
A dramatic wood art installation extends up the two-story wall, bringing warmth and sophistication to the entire living space.
A Complete Modern Home Makeover

This remodel successfully transformed a 2009 Tuscan-style home into a bright, contemporary space defined by clean lines, natural materials, and thoughtful architectural details. The cohesive design is tied together with:
- Light, neutral materials
- Streamlined cabinetry
- Modern gold lighting
- Natural stone surfaces
- Warm wood tones
- Steel-and-glass architectural elements
